For now I'll just undo that but I will tap enter return to apply that transformation. I get the transformation handle so that if I wanted to, I could increase or decrease the size of the bird. This is going to enable me to move this bird and have Photoshop automatically fill in the area where the original bird was. Then I'll switch to the Content-Aware Move tool. But to move this other bird, I'll switch to the Lasso Tool and just make a quick selection around this bird. So to remove the two birds, I'll just select the Spot Healing Brush and then paint over that area in order to have Photoshop, remove them. I want to remove these two birds, and then I want to move this bird right over to this area. All right, let's move to this second image right here. All right, let's go ahead and click the check mark in order to apply that. We can see that it's going to compress those lower frequency areas like the clouds, and try not to disturb that house that we have protected. And of course, this will also work if I drag down from the top.

So now we can see that even if I scale this more Photoshop's going to do everything it can to not distort the house. We can see that there was some distortion done to the house, but if I choose the protect menu, it will look and see if there are any saved selections that I can choose from. Then I'll choose edit and Content-Aware Scale, again unlocking the aspect ratio, and then scaling this by dragging this middle handle. And then we can use cmd + d to de-select. Then I'll choose the select menu and save the selection. And then with the Lasso Tool, I'm just going to drag a loose selection around the house here. Now, if we have areas that we really need to protect, we can go ahead and select those first and then protect those areas. And this is what the Content-Aware Scale would do.

So as I move the Amount slider to the left, this is what Free Transform would do. Now, if we wanted to compare this to what Free Transform would do, we can use the Amount slider right here. And it's trying to leave areas like the roof and the building alone that have the higher frequencies.

So now we can see that as I scale this to fit that 1:1 aspect ratio, Photoshop is trying to scale down those areas in the clouds and in the landscape here, that have lower frequencies. So in order to change that I'm going to unlock by clicking on the link icon right here, or you could hold down the shift key as you drag. Now, by default, as I start scaling this, Photoshop is going to constrain the proportions of the image. And then from the edit menu, I'll choose Content-Aware Scale. I need to convert the background into a layer. If your guides aren't showing you can go under the view menu and then choose to show your guides. We can see there is a guide in it because I want to transform this or scale it so that it fits into a 1:1 aspect ratio. I'm going to start with this image of the house. Photoshop has two tools that can help us to scale images without distorting important elements, as well as reposition objects and automatically fill in the area that was left behind.
